Ongoing rehearsals

Well, it's the end of August and we are progressing well. Davy comes back on the 16th of September to choreograph "Curse", Rachel Tess is in town this weekend to work on her sets and rehearse "Incipient Fissure" and "Sideshow" is about 80% finished.
The new dancers Sarah Lakey, Angela and Renee are doing an incredible job, what a pleasure to work with them.
We had a fund-raising event at Salvador Molly's in Hillsdale this week. They were very generous with their time and money and we raised a good amount for the season. Thanks Salvador Molly!
Peter's set designs are fabulous and will be built soon, and work on the costumes progresses also under Mary's command.
All is, so far, well that is to say, there have been no major disasters yet. A collective knocking on wood can't hurt.

New dancers and old.

BDC is experiencing some growth pains. Several members of our original family of dancers are moving on or unable to participate in this Fall's performances. I had no idea that it would be such a feeling of loss not to have them in rehearsals with us. While I understand that dancers move on, or are commandeered by life to other things, I/we miss the social structure and sense of fun that we had in rehearsals for the January and March performances. Hopefully the ones leaving will find their way back as time and life allow.
Their replacements are just now stepping into rehearsals, and finding a niche to be comfortable in...it's a whole new dynamic for me as a choreographer and as a director running rehearsals.
As this month progresses i'm sure we'll all find a new dynamic, but I wish I could have the old group AND the new together...
