First Posting

Greetings to all!
This is a first posting on the important (and less than important) goings-on at the Bouand DanceCompany. My name is Alex (androus) and I am the Artistic Director. Those of you who wish to know more of me may go to www.alexandrousballard.com, and those of you who have not visited yet may see Bouand DanceCompanies website at www.bouanddancecompany.org.
As I write this we have just finished a 3 week choreographic intensive to which we brought a Mr. Davy Brun. Davy was a dancer with Lyon Opera Ballet, and Ballet de Geneve amongst others, and is a new and talented choreographer. He has danced for and in works by most of the major European choreographers such as: William Forsythe, Mats Ek, Nacho Duato, Jiri Kylian and others. I brought him to Portland in order to expose the dancers in my company and local students, to the European contemporary style that I wish to emphasize for my own company.
While he was here Davy started creating a piece for the company and students tentatively called: "Curse", to a stabat mater by Haydn.
It is our wish to bring him back in September to finish this piece, thereby becoming one of the first American companies to feature Mr. Brun's choreography. Davy will be doing works for Hubbard Street and possibly San Francisco Ballet in the future, so we will be lucky indeed to join these companies in presenting his work.
Davy's piece will join Erica Trivett's "Echo", my own "The Underlying Structure of Metaphor" and a new piece to live music of 3LegTorso, called "Freakshow" or "Sideshow" (haven't decided)
My fabulous volunteers and Board members have risen to the challenge of raising the money to bring Davy back, and I will be posting on this Blog our progress towards this goal.
Those of you unfamiliar with Davy can see his website at www.davybrun.com
